Head Coach - Phil Marino
Coach Marino came to CHS in 2009 and is in his 13th year coaching
the CHS football team. Prior to joining the CHS staff, he was at East
Columbus Magnet Academy.
Previous Coaching Experience: Coach Marino began coaching at Jordan High School in 1982. In 1984 he began coaching at Woodland Academy. In 1990 Coach Marino became the Director of Athletics and Director of Youth Ministry at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel School in Carmel, IN. Then in 1996 joined the coaching staff at Hardaway H.S. In 2000 he became a teacher/coach at East Columbus Magnet Academy. In 2009 he was hired as the head football coach at Columbus High.
Football experience: Coach Marino played football in high school and was an All-Conference player. He also played baseball well enough to be both All-Conference and All-State. Coach Marino pitched in baseball and holds a school record for 3 no-hitters in two seasons. He was part of the baseball program when he attended Ball State.
Family: Coach Marino and his wife Jody have four adult children. Two sons, named Josh and T.J. Their two daughters are Jessica and Sarah. Coach Marino also has ten grandchildren.
Hometown: Coach Marino is from Richmond, Indiana. He attended high school at Richmond Senior High school in Richmond, IN. Coach Marino graduated from Ball State University where he received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Physical Education. Later, Coach Marino attended Troy University where he completed a Master’s in Sports Fitness and Management.
